I'm Serdar

Hello! I am Serdar Alkan, a senior student of Computer Engineering at Konya Technical University and currently working as a backend developer at Kapsül Technology Platform. Specializing in backend development, I focus on creating secure, scalable and efficient software solutions. In my job; I have gained experience in critical areas such as RESTful APIs, data management, security and performance optimization using modern technologies such as Node.js, Express, MongoDB, TypeScript. Although backend development is the main area I focus on in my career, I continue to pursue my interest in artificial intelligence and machine learning. I know how artificial intelligence technologies will play a big role in the software world in the future and I am trying to improve my skills in this area. I am currently working professionally as a backend developer, but I am also trying to create opportunities to increase my knowledge in the field of artificial intelligence and integrate these two areas. My role at Kapsül Technology Platform is to build the backend infrastructure of projects in a robust and secure way. The experiences I gained here have given me a deep understanding of how software systems work in the background. By gaining competence in subjects such as API integrations, data processing and system optimization, I had the chance to create the most critical components of the projects. At the same time, I gained practical experience in databases, distributed systems and high scalability. As I progress my career as a backend developer, my passion for artificial intelligence and machine learning constantly encourages me to learn new things in this field. I am researching how to integrate artificial intelligence into backend development projects, especially by working on natural language processing (NLP), deep learning and machine learning algorithms. My goal is to combine my backend development expertise with artificial intelligence and take part in projects that produce innovative and intelligent solutions for users. By bringing these two areas together, I believe that artificial intelligence-supported systems will become even more widespread in the future and I continue to improve myself in this direction. My passion for adapting to new technologies and producing solutions carries me further every day. I would like to state that I am always open to collaboration. 📌 What is KAPSÜL TYS? Kapsül TYS enables middle school, high school, university and above technology teams in Konya to prepare more easily for national and international competitions such as Teknofest and TÜBİTAK. It accelerates and simplifies the application and follow-up processes by transferring supports such as office, materials and mentors to the digital environment.

Backend Development

Developed a modular , scalable , and optimized backend using MERN Stack (MongoDB, Express.js, React, Node.js) and TypeScript. Integrated secure authentication and authorization systems: JWT-based session management for user authentication. Email-based account verification & password reset systems. Role-based access control (RBAC) for administrator authorization. Worked on database modeling and optimization, improving performance using MongoDB indexing and aggregation pipelines . Implemented data validation , error handling , and input controls for CRUD operations . Developed detailed API endpoints for : Admin, Categories, Competitions, Team Information, Team Members, Competition Applications, Announcements, Product Demands, Production Demands, and Education Demands. Established real-time logging systems to facilitate API log analysis and error management. Unlike T3 KYS , our system is based on team-based authentication rather than individual user logins.

DevOps && System Administration

Managed Backend & DevOps processes independently, overseeing all server administration, security, and deployment operations. Gained extensive experience in Linux-based server management . Configured Nginx and reverse proxy (load balancing & HTTPS certification) for secure and efficient traffic management. Implemented Cloudflare protection , including DDoS mitigation , Web Application Firewall (WAF) , and DNS management . Utilized PM2 process manager to handle Node.js backend processes and automated restarts. Automated CI/CD processes using Git and GitHub Actions , ensuring streamlined deployment. Designed MongoDB Atlas backup strategies , ensuring database security and data retention.

Business Development && Team Collaboration

Participated in two weeks of business development meetings , actively contributing to technical architecture and workflow improvements. Developed a university-specific management panel , allowing each university to track and manage their teams effectively. Implemented an automated QR code system for team registration : Generated a unique QR code for each team member upon registration . Sent the QR code to the member's email for physical access authorization at Kapsül Technology Platform. Enabled secure access control through QR code scanning at the institution entrance. Led API testing workflows using Postman . Optimized database performance to enhance system efficiency.

Project Promotion && Public Reach

Project advertisements were displayed on billboards across Konya , allowing users to scan the QR code and access the project website. Presented the project to the university's rector, dean, and academic faculty at an official meeting at Kapsül Technology Platform , showcasing the Backend and DevOps infrastructure I developed. Team Management System p roject is actively used on all platforms , accessible from multiple devices. The project currently serves over 300+ teams and 2000+ active users from universities in Konya .
